How about a "Best of the contest" or "Honorable mentions" video to highlight and thank the artists who submitted?

This is exactly why good graphic designers don't work on spec. Very good design takes a huge amount of time and people who can do that won't make that for (potentially) nothing. I like this channel and Kyle, but this is a bad way to treat designers. I'm not surprised it failed.

See Kyle, with a proper design brief and working 1 on 1 with a proper designer you would have a logo that met all your requirements and it probably wouldn't have taken this long to create. Just sayin' ;-)

No offense, Kyle. But best artists / designers won't participate in such contest. That's why you can't expect the best results.

This is typical of any customer. Very picky and don't know what they want. Its understandable. Next time source out a local designer and pay for what you WANT rather than ask for what you NEED.

Your "next move" should be hiring a professional and paying them the going rate.

I have to day this is terribly disappointing. The contest it's self was problematic, asking your fans who are designers to do work for free with the hope of maybe getting picked with the idea that it's good experience and good exposure, an issue that you yourself have probably had to deal with as a creative with people trying to take advantage of your skills, and now their isn't even the possibility of that. On top of that the video announcing there would be a winner had preroll ads in front of it so your making money off of announcing that your problematic contest failed. Next time Kyle do the right thing and hire a designer outright have the same respect for designers as you would expect for yourself as a YouTube creator.

Next you should just upload all your raw footage and crowdsource your editor. You'll save time and money and all it will cost is some poor chumps time and energy. Amiright

Dear Kyle, First I want to say how much I love and enjoy your videos. However, I must state that you did not provide any clear goals with your logo and this video is the clear result of what I can only call, "poor planning equals poor results." You said, "Wow me, and make it about me. It's gotta be cool though," which are the worst directions for any designer to have to deal with. A designer I know entered your contest and that was the chief complaint based upon your brief. It's all well and good to say, I don't know what I'm going to do. I wasn't wowed by any of them. I don't necessarily see that as the fault of the designers who offered their work. I see that as you provided inadequate instructions as to what you wanted in your attempt to contract the work. In the future be specific about what you're trying to capture in your logo, work with a designer closely and collaboratively and you may get what you want. Just know that I will continue to be supportive of your channel and watch as I really do enjoy your content. Sincerely, Matthew Ps. If you wish to communicate with me directly on this issue please just comment and perhaps we can set up a way to do it over DMs on Twitter or via other fashion.

Way to make a troublesome competition even worse. Now instead of only one person out of 750 (though that might have been just the number of submitted designs) getting something for their work, they all go uncompensated. I get it, you don't like any of the work. But let's be real here, you didn't really know what you wanted in the first place, which was one of the underlying flaws right from the beginning. How about some professionalism. Like, actually setting out what you want specifically. And then hiring an actual designer.
