Downsizing should be on this list. The trailer made it seem like it is a comedy focused on the fun and the struggles of being downsized, in reality is does not focus on the downsize life at all. The plot of the movie has nothing to do with downsize. The whole movie would still be the same if you take all the downsize stuff out. It is more like a political movie. Focusing on the hardship of immigrants, and focusing on the ultimate environmental doom that the climate change is causing.

Catfish trailer deceived you? That's actually pretty brilliant seeing as the name of the movie is Catfish had that deception been intentional. Seeing that it wasn't, it belongs on the list

Two movies trailers that lied to me : 1.Hateful Eight. I thought it was an adaptation of Agatha Christie's 'And There Were None' and 2. 'Drive' I went to theatre expecting an action movie in lines of Fast & Furious.

The trailer for Batman V Superman suggested it had more fighting and an actual motive than the movie did

The trailer for Cabin in the Woods being basic made the movie so much better for me. It was surprisingly great, the only bad thing about not knowing how good it was is I didn't go see it in theaters. Hercules was better than I thought it would be also. The trailer made it look super basic, and the Hercules that came out like two weeks before made expectation even lower for me.

Drive. From the trailer it looks like a fast paced driving action flick. The reality is you are watching Ryan Gosling starring at people intensely mostly the love interest of the film for what becomes a comically long time.
