One of the most jarring experiences of my life was when an older man sexually harassed me on a train coming home. I was 18 at the time. He threw my backpack and coat onto the floor and sat down next to me. He started trying to make conversation to me but it quickly escalated to him trying to reach up my skirt, asking me to go with him to the bathroom, and demanding to know which stop was mine. He said that he would follow me out to the parking lot and f*ck me. I posted this story once in another comments section - on a video reacting to a buzzfeed “manspreading” video. The YouTuber said that women are just as guilty because they take up space with their purses, so I posted the above story, and said that I was instructed afterward to always sit in the aisle with my purse at the window in order to avoid being harassed. It was a male friend who told me to do this. That was my only point of contention with the video. But the followers of this channel proceeded to call me a liar, call me ugly, call me a joke, and spam me with the “I wouldn’t even rape you” bit. They also came to my personal YouTube channel to comment on innocent videos of me playing music to tell me that I was a liar, etc. So when Trevor spoke in this video about the boys just struck a chord. I didn’t tell that story online for a long while after that. I privated most of my personal videos, and I felt like there was no reason to ever mention that this had happened - especially to the other side of the aisle. The next time I talked about it on the internet, I was among a much safer community. But the sad thing is that the senate floor is not a safe area to talk about this. It’s about as forgiving as the comment section of a Hunter Avallone video, and that is messed up. That is a low freaking bar. I am really grateful for guys like Trevor Noah, who share an insightful and compassionate perspective that I hope resonates with other men. Because something needs to change. This video brought tears to my eyes both times I watched it, which I know is pathetic and sad...but it means a lot to me to see this kind of authentic support. Thanks for this video, Trevor. You are gr8

America how did you become this way? I think that the statue of Liberty should go back to France until you deserve to be represented by her.

I had tears rolling down my cheeks as I listened to this. I'll never come forward and confront the man who assaulted me for years as a child. I've never talked about it publicly. I never would before and I never will now, for this very reason. I've been through enough. To be harassed and degraded any further would destroy me.

This is what should be aired on the daily show. it's what the show lacks. stewart would break character and get serious every now and then. the trevor we see here is doing something similar and it can reach so many more people. it needs to happen more and it needs to be aired. THIS is the trevor I want to see more of.

What would the republicans do if a man came forward with being sexually assaulted by someone like Kavanaugh? Would their minds explode?
