Kids grow today with Teletubbies and Dexter and crap. I grew up with Kano ripping his opponent's heart out. And I came up just fine :)

I was 13 when Mortal Kombat 1 came out, I'm 35 and still a fan. The first character I picked and has been my favorite is Scorpion. MKX is already reserved and soon to come home when the time comes. Thank You to all who made Mortal Kombat what it was and what it still is today. :) TOASTY!!

They should find all of the Hi8 footage, clean them up, and redo the sprites as a HD edition.

I remember walking into my local arcade to play Gauntlet or whatever and just seeing a massive crowd around this machine and after every loud grunt, smack or yell just this amazed cheering. When I finally fought through the crowd to see what the fuss was about a guy playing had just pulled off Scorpions fatality and I remember saying to myself "What the hell just happened?" I was hooked from that point on.

Dad rented Mortal Kombat 1 for me from our local Blockbuster. Ended up hiding it to keep it, and I did. The rest is history.....still play it once in a while!

MK was such an integral part of the video game aspect of my childhood. I still remember the first time I saw an MK1 machine in my local bowling alley: My eyes lit up and I was completely blown away by the spectacle of amazing graphics, unapologetic violence, and overall realism of the game. And when I played it, I was anything but let down at how incredibly fun it was. With that being said, I would like to thank everyone involved in creating the Mortal Kombat series. MK forever...

Every actor is giving good credence to John Tobias. They don't seem to like Ed Boon.

The digitized actors who played the characters in the original versions of Mortal Kombat made the game look better than any other fighting game at the time. The actors and actresses were also real life martial artists which made the punches and the kicks in the game more realistic. But of course the main reason why this game got popular was because of the blood and guts (which was originally a secret that you had to find out yourself).

Somebody should make a biopic about MK starring Eli Roth as Ed Boon
